Subject
- Subject
searching means that not only are you searching by topic,
but usually means that you are searching by standard subject
headings such as Library of Congress Subject headings or
standard subject headings defined by the database, such
as ERIC descriptors.
- Each
database or catalog handles this differently and sometimes
you will get results that are similar to what you search
if you don't use the exact heading in the index, but other
times you will get no results.
- This
type of search can be valuable if you know the terms indexed
or can look them up in the database.
